Speech recognition unfolds benefits across all Nordic countries

Nuance will take the opportunity of World of Health IT in Denmark to emphasise the impressive improvements achieved by hospitals in the Nordic countries through the deployment of speech recognition.

Sweden: Reporting-time down by 50%
Radiologists at Västmanland County Hospital have cut the time it takes to produce reports by 50%, just six months after integrating Nuance's 360 | SpeechMagic SDK technology into their radiology information system.

Denmark: Higher productivity, better quality
Vejle County Hospital integrated Nuance speech recognition into its EHR, which is used by 1,400 doctors, nurses and secretaries. This has led to higher quality health records, increased patient satisfaction and improved productivity throughout the hospital.

Finland: Faster emergency reporting
Helsinki University Central Hospital is a trauma centre, so emergency reports need to be available fast - in many cases instantly. The hospital piloted the integration of speech recognition with its RIS to evaluate effects on report generation. By letting radiologists take full control of report creation, report turnaround time simply halved.

Norway: Speech recognition saves hospital €900,000 per year
Document turnaround times have decreased dramatically since the hospital Sykehuset Telemark HF installed speech recognition at 450 workstations around the site. About 90% of all medical reports are now delivered to the referring doctors within seven days, and about 70% are handed directly to the patients before they leave hospital. The hospital has made savings of €900,000 per year.
