Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking Integrated with WinScribe 3.7 Digital Dictation Workflow Solution

New product allows customers to maximize combined benefits of enterprise-wide digital dictation solution with leading speech recognition application

LONDON, United Kingdom – 1 October, 2007 – Nuance Communications, Inc, the leading provider of speech solutions has today announced that Dragon NaturallySpeaking has been integrated with WinScribe v3.7, the latest version of WinScribe’s digital dictation workflow solution. By combining the professional capabilities of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 with the WinScribe application, organizations will experience notable workflow productivity gains and cost efficiencies, allowing customers to meet the demand for faster and more cost effective reporting.

With WinScribe v3.7, both client-side and server-side speech recognition can be combined and deployed in many different types of workflow scenarios to suit individual requirements. Authors can review their own reports before and/or after they are transcribed, or have them reviewed by others.

With client-side, users can view, edit and correct speech recognition text while they dictate a job. This allows professionals to access and correct text immediately for ‘on the spot’ sign-off when transcriptionists are not available, for example.

With server-side, all speech recognition jobs are sent to a speech recognition server for automatic speech to text conversion, before being routed to a transcriptionist for formatting and / or back to the user for review. This results in time savings for the user who can immediately move onto dictating another job.

The combined solution enables customers to choose whether to process speech recognition locally, or on the server according to the type of job. If speech recognition has not been processed locally, the system will automatically submit the selected job type to the server for speech recognition.

“The combined workflow management capabilities of WinScribe integrated with Dragon NaturallySpeaking is not only a very exciting development for customers seeking to maximize their productivity with an integrated speech recognition and digital dictation workflow solution,” says Greg Allen, Chief Technology Officer, WinScribe, “but by partnering with another technology leader, this also supports WinScribe’s commitment to ensure that customers are working as efficiently as possible.”

Commenting on WinScribe’s decision to integrate Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Neil Grant, Nuance Regional Sales Director, said; “Nuance’s unmatched heritage in speech recognition makes Dragon NaturallySpeaking the first choice for any organization that implements speech as an interface to its product, service, or solution. WinScribe’s decision to integrate Dragon NaturallySpeaking further validates Nuance position as the speech technology market leader.”
