Nuance Announces Strategy for Growth in Russia
New Regional Team to Drive Growth and Help Russian Companies to Save Operational Costs While Improving Customer Service
Russia, Moscow – 04 December 2008 – In line with its objective to further expand its presence globally and drive more demand for its speech, imaging and keypad solutions, Nuance Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: NUAN) today announced its strategy for further growth for its Mobile & Enterprise Business across Russia, CIS and Eastern Europe. As part of its program to develop Nuance’s presence in this region, Nuance announces the opening of a representative office in Moscow and the appointment of Janne Timonen as Regional Director Russia, CIS and Eastern Europe.
Mr. Timonen will be responsible for building and driving sales and customer satisfaction for both new prospects and existing customers in the Russian Federation and Eastern Europe. Mr.Timonen, based in Moscow, joined Nuance in October 2008 and he brings 12 years of relevant experience to this role, working in Russian telecommunications and IT market, with companies including TeliaSonera and Nokia.
Nuance’s commitment to building and developing the Mobile & Enterprise business in Russia is a logical extension of its global strategy considering Nuance has long supported the Russian language with its speech recognition and text-to-speech solutions.
Nuance is for example currently developing with its partner VoxCom an Information Voice Portal for a leading Russian media house. The portal will allow people access up-to-date business and other news, currency rates, weather forecasts and other information by phone. The service is expected to be launched next year and it will serve local customers of the Russian media house. It offers people access to information on any phone anywhere in the country although many places in the Russian Federation do not support internet traffic for mobile phones.
Nuance’s speech solutions have been successfully deployed in Russia also already across a number of other private companies, government organizations, financial institutes, and operators within Russia. Now, in these difficult economic conditions Nuance can help company’s lower costs by streamlining their business performance and maximize the value of their customer relationships.
